Halloween Fun

While in Park City, I found cheap bags at Michael's and Halloween foam stickers, so I thought it would be fun to let my kids make their own Trick-or-Treating bags.  They always enjoy a good craft!

We wrote their names on the back in glow-in-the-dark Paint.  I think they turned out pretty dang cute and they loved doing them.  We'll see how they hold up next Monday!

This is the reason he was stripped down to just his diaper. He gets a LITTLE bit sticky, but was oh so happy.

Tonight, we hit the Pumpkin patch to pick out some pumpkins and go on the Hay Ride. It was a pretty warm evening which was so nice. I remember in past years freezing to death.

 We found all of our pumpkins just before we lost every bit of sunlight. On the ride back our driver was hilarious.  He made us sing songs. 

Now we get to carve some masterpieces in those pretty pumpkins.. stay tuned :)

Pretty Amazing weekend

This past weekend (starting Thursday), I was able to spend some time with some pretty amazing people!  A few years ago we did a mom/daughters weekend in Arizona and it was so fun we decided to do it again this time in Park City. I am really hoping that one year Jen will be able to join us.  We missed you! Julie flew in Thursday morning from Denver.  We picked mom up at her house and the adventure began.  The weather was incredible. I was worried it would be a little cold up in the mountains, but it was perfect.

On the way from my mom's house I took the wrong exit so we went the LONG way around to Park City. We first decided to stop at the Cemetery where my dad is buried since we went right past it on our scenic route.

There was one tree directly west of my dad's grave that was so beautiful.

It was a great start to our mini vacation! We arrived in Park City and ate lunch at Kneaders which was located directly below our hotel. We checked in, and then started our shopping spree.  I don't think you can shop to much can you?!  Our hotel was fabulous and had a private hot tub on the deck, which we took full advantage of.

The outlets were having some good sales so we shopped til we dropped and scored some great purchases!

Friday we got ready for our first full day of fun. 

 did you notice that beautiful, colorful mountain in the background? It was so pretty up there!

Our first stop was the Olympic Park Museum. I can't believe that I have never been up there with all the times I have been in Park City.  We walked through and looked at all the displays and everything that was used during the Olympics. I felt so proud and patriotic.  It is hard to believe that was almost 10 years ago that the Winter Olympics were in Utah.

 This is a summer training facility for the ski jump.  Crazy that you would get involved in that sport!

Afterwards we hit Main Street Park City to walk around and find somewhere for lunch because we were hungry.

We found this great little BBQ place.  It was so GOOOOOD.

 We also found our new favorite store, Silverado, and hit the Chocolate Factory.   We went back to the outlets to hit some more stores.  The shopping did not disappoint and the discounts were great. I am all about discounts. It was funny that by the end of the day, we had gradually put on a lot of our new purchases that we looked completely different than when we left in the morning.

 We bought some similar things.. hahaha...

Our nights consisted mostly of vegging, playing cards, and sitting in the hot tub.  It was pretty darn fabulous!

Saturday morning Julie and I did a quick downhill run.  Seriously, running 2 miles in 15 minutes. We had mom drive us up to the top and then ran back to the hotel.  It felt great until my ankle decided to hurt again.  It throbbed the last 1/2 mile and I am sure a tear or two escaped my eyes.  Good thing I had my sunglasses on.  Our Halloween Half is this coming weekend and I am not sure what to do.  I guess, pray for a miracle and hope it stops hurting.  I really want to run this one! 

Afterwards we went out for a big breakfast.  We also scheduled massages for that afternoon.  My therapist worked on my ankle for almost 30 minutes and it was super painful.  Hopefully it was worth it.  It was my mom and Julie's very first massage ever and I think my mom is a fan.  We hit the outlets one last time Saturday night.

Julie and Mom bought dinner at the grocery store and fixed it at our condo.  I love when they have a kitchen to use. We ate, sat in the hot tub, and watched a movie.

Today, we got up, had a late breakfast, and packed up to leave.  I was excited to see my family, but sad to leave the lazy, no agenda lifestyle.  It truly was wonderful in every way. I enjoyed every minute I spent with my mom and sister.  I am so grateful that Sean takes over to play Mr. Mom while I am gone so I can do things like this.  Man, I'm lucky!  He is always so supportive of me doing these things, which I am so thankful for. It definitely rejuvenates the soul.

It's been a little rough for little Jax

We started out last weekend happy and went downhill from there..

 He started acting sick Saturday night, and then fevered and felt miserable the rest of the week.  I hate when they are sick. It makes me feel so bad because there is little you can do.  The funniest thing was all the places we found him sound asleep throughout the day.  Seriously, he was like a narcoleptic.  It was sweet and funny! 

 He was so hot (with fever) for 2 days that I never got him dressed because that just made him sweat like a pig and made his fever spike.  All I have to say is that I am incredibly grateful for Children's Motrin and Tylenol.  There were rays of sunshine while he was dosed up!

He went outside 2 days ago and totally biffed it down our patio rock stairs all within 2 minutes and messed up his nose pretty good.  It was red, bleeding, swollen and bruised by the time he came in.  He also sported some nice fever blisters all over.  He had 3 around his mouth, 2 huge one's inside his mouth (which made it fun to eat), and then had one on his chest this morning. 

At least we are getting some smiles now and his eyes aren't so droopy and sad.  It's the pits to be sick and this one is HIGH Maintenance as a sick child.  I do enjoy the cuddle time though so I'll take the good and the bad, I guess.

The need for Speed

For Sean's birthday I decided to do something fun and take him to dinner and then Go Kart Racing. It was a freakin' blast!  He totally kicked my butt too (dang it!).  I'm not use to the big kid "tracks" only the Boondocks type "tracks".  It seriously was so much fun.  We had to watch a safety video before we could start.  No wonder, it was crazy.

We had 11 racers in our group and there was one girl I got stuck behind the last 4 or 5 laps.  I kept screaming move over, but she didn't.  It bugged!  I need a re-match. Anyway, it was a super fun night.  I loved being with Sean. 

Saturday we had 3 soccer games.  Jayson's was first at 9:00 and it was chilly (brrrrrrrrrrrr). Rylee's game  was next, but when they started they only had 4 girls so Jayson went out and played with their team.  The funniest part was when Jayson and Rylee both had a chance at the goal in the first few minutes, and Rylee shoved Jayson out of the way so she could score.  We were laughing so hard! 

After Rylee's game I went for my long run.  I only had 1 hour in between the 2 games, so I just went a little over 6 miles.  I ran from Rylee's game to Tayler's game and tried to take the long route. Tayler and Rylee are both done with their Rec. games.  Jayson has one more game next Saturday and then we are done.  Tayler still has her competition games, but those are usually a week night.  It will be nice to have a break for a while on Saturday's!

The weather is suppose to warm back up with week (meaning, into the high 60's which will feel fantastic).  Last week we had high's in the low 40's.  It was COLD and I turned my heat on in my house.  I think that is the earliest I have turned on our furnace.  I also broke out the kids' winter coats, gloves and hats for school.  That is just wrong :)

Happy October!!  I need to get costumes ready for Halloween.

Someone had a birthday..

We celebrated Sean yesterday!  He is such a great guy.  I'm quite fond of him.

The kids all helped me make a cake.  We had a blast.  Jayson said that we needed to write "BYU" all over it and so we did.  We took him out to dinner and came home for cake and ice cream (he really wanted peppermint ice cream).  I wasn't sure I could find that kind yet, but thankfully, I did.  I forget how yummy that is.  We had some wonderful family time.  Tonight, I am taking him out on the town.  I haven't told him what we are doing yet so it should be fun.  Can't wait.

funny story: on my birthday a few days ago I asked Sean how old I was turning (because I completely didn't know).. He told me I was going to be 36 which meant he was turning 39.  We were both totally bummed thinking, really we're that old? Then my friend and I were talking and we figured out I had only turned 35.  I was so happy so I told Sean, "babe we are 1 year younger than we thought".   He was excited too.  Yep, we are nerds!  Next time I will do the math myself.

tAyLoR sWiFt

On Wednesday night we went to the Taylor Swift concert.  It was an amazing concert and so much fun to be there with my 2 girls (and Sean :)!

  We went out to eat together and then found our seats. 

She sang for over 2 1/2 hours.  Most of the songs we all knew and danced and sang too, and others we just listened too.  She is an amazing performer.

It was a fabulous night!  In car Rylee told me that she can't wait until her next concert.. hahaha.
