Easter Happenings

This weekend was a little crazy, but fun nonetheless.  We took our car in Thursday night expecting to get it back Saturday, but NOPE it won't be done until Monday, so  we all crammed in the Lexus.  Totally illegal I know and SO uncomfortable to have 6 people in it, but we got where we had to go and didn't get pulled over.

I had to work Saturday, Tay had a soccer game, we had an Easter fun run/hunt with Sean's family and then Rylee had soccer pictures and then a soccer game. There were also a TON of things we needed to finish before we leave on our trip.

Here are the runners for the kids' fun run. They all did so good.
Tay ran her little heart out.  She looked like a Kenyon.  I tried to race her once (down our street not so long ago), and lost! Don't worry, I didn't let her win either.. she is that fast or I am that OLD.
Jayson finished strong too.  He loved everyone cheering him on in the end.  Precious.
Jackson just went the wrong way altogether.
And Rylee ran her little heart out as well.  She had to go run at her soccer game afterwards and still scored a goal again.
After everyone finished the race it was off to look for 100's of eggs that were hidden.  Jayson wasted no time starting.
 Neither did Rylee
Tay's basket was so full she kept dropping them.

Jackson totally got the hang of it after a few minutes.

We came home bathed all the kids and put them in bed for the night.  They were all filthy.

Here they are ready for the egg hunt in our living room this morning.
 After the hunt..
Jackson trying to steal every one's candy.. even though he had plenty of his own.
We dumped all of the candy into one big bowl and HOLY cow, I think we have more candy than we did for Halloween.
After breakfast, everyone got into their new Easter clothes.

(Jayson can't ever look at the camera.. little stinker!)

Sean had candy in his mouth...
 My girls

After Church, Sean sat the kids down to teach them the REAL meaning of Easter.  One of the things he said was: " We get to see Grandpa Linton again and give him big hugs because of the wonderful gift that Jesus provided to us"  Such an amazing blessing indeed. It made me a little choked up.  I am so eternally grateful for the sacrifice and gift we are ALL given no matter what.  I can't imagine the heartbreak thinking that after this life it is the end.  I am blessed.

I hope that everyone had an amazing weekend.

Crazy Friday

Yesterday I had a hair appointment and decided to go back blonde.. (although my hair is not so blonde anymore).  I really enjoyed being dark and think I will change back and forth often, but for now I went a little lighter for the summer.   Now if we could only get the sun to come out.  Sean and I leave for D.C. on Tuesday morning.  I can't wait.  I am pretty sure I will miss my kids immensely.  This will be my first time ever leaving Jacks the max. We have great family for accepting the invitation to watch them. I'm crossing my fingers that all will go well.

Happy Friday everyone!

weekend stuff..

This is the weekend that soccer started (due to the SNOW last Saturday). Tayler plays at 8 a.m. every Saturday and Rylee plays at 10:30. Sean also signed Jayson up so he will start in the fall.  Wow!

Grandma & Jackson all bundled up watching Tay's game.  It wasn't so warm at 8 a.m.  Jackson was cozy and warm and didn't move the whole game.  He and grandma have now bonded. Very cute.
I had the pleasure (read: UNFORTUNATE EVENT) of helping out at the practice on Friday since Sean was out of town.  Luckily for everyone he showed up about 20 minutes after the practice started..phew!  I really do love the girls on Tay's team, they are so great.  The funniest thing was Tayler's embarrassment of what I wore to her soccer practice.  My hot pink running pants and superman shirt.  I thought it was funny, yet she was mortified.  Ah, the joys are starting already.  I should have gotten a picture.  It was stellar.

After the game.  We are missing Taylie in this picture (actually, she is in the back with her dad.. if you squint you can see her.)

When Tayler's game ended, we went and picked up some Krispy Kremes, hit Old Navy for a minute and then went to  Rylee's game.

Rylee and Bethany.. they have been friends for a LONG time.

Rylee scored a goal during the game.  Their team won 2-1. We were so proud of her.  Sean's reward was Nacho's.. mine was a quarter. Yep, I'm cheap.
Dad and Jayson

Tayler came home from Activity Days on Friday SO excited to teach FHE.  She wanted to do it that night.  I told her to wait until Monday, but we let her do it this evening instead.  She had a packet of brownies for the treat so she made them from start to finish all by herself (I was coaching on the sidelines), but she did
everything by herself.  Way to go Tay!

On Thursday I was bored so I decided to make bread.  This is the 2nd attempt ever to make bread.  I make rolls and bread sticks all the time, but not bread.  My first experience wasn't great (I omitted the salt accidentally, so my beautiful loaves tasted awful). Needless to say, I haven't done it again, but I decided it was time to try and surprisingly-it did turn out.  Tayler has asked me everyday to make it again so I'm guessing it wasn't too bad. The recipe was simple.  I am a fan of those.

I also made some strawberry freezer jam so it was the perfect thing to go with it.

We had a great weekend.  It was fun to have grandma come and have a sleep over. My kids think that is the coolest.  She also helped so much with the kids!  It was WONDERFUL to have daddy come home after his trip.  It's always better when dad is home. The weather was so nice Friday and Saturday afternoon.. I was able to get a semi good run in. Sunday was so relaxing.  My favorite kind.

Aquarium

This week has been our Spring Break, but it started out a little rocky!  Jackson had been sick the previous week and I came home Saturday from work and was SO sick!  I was out until Sunday night.  I am not sure I have been that sick in a long time.  I am so glad it was Conference Weekend.  I stayed in my p.j.'s the whole weekend.  I LOVED conference too. Tayler threw up Saturday night also, but seemed okay Sunday, and then hit hard again, Monday and Tuesday.  I was sure that Jayson and Rylee would get it as well, but so far so good.  They had little signs of it, but nothing that lasted that long.  Tuesday night we tried to take the kids to the dollar movie.  We decided to see Yogi Bear (DUMBEST movie I have ever seen!!). The kids even seemed bored.  Anyway, we tried!  We got sandwiches from Quiznos and took them in.  Thank heavens for a diaper bag to sneak everything in  :)
Wednesday, I decided to take the kids to the Aquarium in Sandy.  My kids are in LOVE with Sea life right now (especially Jayson!).. I think that stems from my awesome parenting in letting them all watch the Jaws marathon that was on TV several months ago.  They were a wee bit scared, but also extremely intrigued.  We had lunch at PEI WEI and then headed to the Aquarium.  It is small, which I actually LOVED.  Keeping track of 4 kids is not an easy task, so the smaller the better.. right now anyway.

Jackson could have stayed here ALL day.. do you see that little cut-out in the coral. It was the perfect size for him.  He loved it!!

Tay's favorite part: touching the sting rays
Rylee's favorite part: seeing the penguins
Jayson's favorite part: the sharks, getting a map (the kid is obsessed with them)
Jackson's favorite part: the little nemo fish

It was a successful day.  This gives me a taste for summer.  Can't wait to have all my kids home again so we can play, play, play!
